I Stopped Looking For The Magic Solution To Weight Loss And Became The Fittest, Strongest And Lightest I Have Been In Over 20 Years
Hi. I’m Lindsey Sills. I live in Romford in Essex and I work in Local Government.
I started dieting in my late teens. Being on a diet or over eating or looking for my next diet quickly became my way of life. When I was on a diet, I would start feeling full of optimism that “this time” this diet would work. On occasion, I would lose weight but I was never able to sustain the weight loss. In fact, to quote another Mi365er “I dieted myself fat!”
My friends would often suggest I stopped fad dieting and simply eat healthily. They did not understand the fear I had. If I was not dieting, I was terrified that I would spiral out of control over eating. It was a truly toxic cycle: not only because of the negative impact of weight gain, but also the detrimental effect to my self-confidence and self-belief.
In my 30’s I was still searching for the magic solution to weight loss. I had always been physically active and played many sports and, at the age of 35, I started a BSc in Applied Sports Science. I was certain that, through study, I would find the solution to being overweight. After graduating, I continued studying Nutrition, Behaviour Change & NLP – still searching for that magic solution.
In January 2016, I started one of Pete’s coaching programmes. This included first class coaching from Pete; great information and videos on the website and an extraordinary FB community support group. It was a one off payment, not a set of scales in sight, and, amazingly, no rules & regulations that must be followed. I started slowly, really grasping that the key to successfully changing my unhealthy relationship to food was to take small consistent steps every day. I took one element of the programme at a time and gradually included it into my daily life. I posted daily in the FB group and was unconditionally supported through the good days and importantly the days when I was challenged.
Gradually l came to realise that there was no magic solution. The truth was, I am the solution. I am accountable for my choices and my decisions. I had gained a wealth of knowledge though my study but I had failed to understand the crucial element – that I had to put this knowledge into action consistently.
Since this realisation 2.5 years ago, I have become 3 stone lighter. In the past 18 months I have completed a Sprint Triathlon and the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.
At 55, I am the fittest, strongest and lightest that I have been in over 20 years. I have never felt so full of energy & vitality- and I have gained confidence and belief. I now love to shop for clothes, leaving the nightmare of previous clothes shopping experiences firmly in the past.
The joy of this programme is that I now know I had the power to change all along. Pete showed me how and the community support group was with me every step of the way.
