How Mi365 Has Helped Me Create Lifelong Healthy Habits
Hi there. I’m Dawn, In January 2018, I weighed in at 17st 12lbs and wore size 20-22 clothes (which were too tight). It wasn’t surprising because I like a drink and used to down a few pints of lager when I went out for an evening. I’m tall – 5ft 10” and knew I was over 5st above a healthy weight for me. So I signed up for the Mi365 Weight Loss Challenge because I knew that it was going to help me.
Initially I lurked in the background on the Facebook group, reading what other members were doing to support their weight loss. Pete made it clear that in order to be slim I would have to create lifelong healthy habits that supported me being a slim person and, from watching others, I could see that they were putting small daily habits into place and building on them, but they were getting results. Inspired by the wonderful members I too put some habits in place, starting with getting up a bit earlier to go for a 10 minute walk. Then I added drinking more water, then going to bed a bit earlier, and walking for 20-30 minutes. Within 3 or 4 weeks I was eating more healthily and drinking less alcohol. Within 6 weeks I woke up one Sunday morning actually wanting to go to a gym, so I joined a 24hr gym and started going to the gym for 30 minutes instead of going for a walk.
There is no diet or exercise plan – we all do what works for us as individuals, the focus is always on health and wellbeing, and not diet and counting calories or points or sins. I’ve learned some really interesting things about nutrition and exercise and implemented changes to my lifestyle as a result of that.
It’s not even 8 months since I started WLC, and I’ve achieved over 3rd weight loss to date. I have just cleared out my wardrobes and replaced the size 22 with size 16.
It’s been so easy, because I don’t have a dieting mentality. I eat healthily most of the time, but I don’t starve myself or ban any food. If I really want to eat something, I eat it and I enjoy it without feeling guilty. My relationship to alcohol has completely changed. I’m quite happy to enjoy a night out and not drink alcohol. The biggest change for me has been around exercise… I love it, it charges me up for the day. I no longer force myself to exercise to compensate for a bad diet, I exercise to be fit and feel amazing.
The Facebook group has been a massive support to me. We help each other through our individual challenges and those who have had success help those who are new to the journey. I feel as though I’m building friendships with people in the group and I really look forward to seeing them at the Mi365 live events.
I have just over 2 stone left to lose, which will probably take up to 6 months, but the healthy habits are going to be there for life. It’s easy to lose sight of our goals and give up when things get tough. Being coached by Pete Cohen ensures that my focus is firmly fixed on the goals and my future healthier self, every single day.
